Green Lane provides many opportunities for its pupils to enrich and enhance their academic learning, through the use of Outdoor Education and Off-site Educational Visits. These increase the independence and self-esteem of pupils, encouraging the development of a range of life skills.
Most terms, classes enjoy day visits linked to their topic, travelling as a whole year group. In the past these visits have included: palaces e.g. Hampton Court and Fishbourne; parklands and gardens e.g. Kew and Gatton Park; museums e.g. in London and Guildford; sites nearby e.g. the Rose Theatre in Kingston and Richmond Park. Even our youngest pupils are included – the Nursery classes have visitors in school whilst they settle in, and travel to RHS Wisley in their Summer term
Residential visits start with simple sleepovers in school in Years 3 and 4, progressing to a short residential stay with a specialist provider at a nearby site in Year 5. Year 6 continue to travel further afield for a full week residential stay, again with an outside provider.
