Pupil Premium

Back

‘Pupil Premium’ is a grant allocated to schools to support socially disadvantaged pupils to achieve in line with their peers.

Pupil premium is not allocated to individual students; it is not an individual entitlement.

The school has the responsibility for allocating the pupil premium funding to support pupils or groups of pupils.

School leaders are required to set their criteria for how the money is best allocated in order to meet the needs of disadvantaged pupils, supporting their attendance and academic performance.

Schools are accountable for how they use the additional funding to support their pupils and are required to publish online information about how they have used the pupil premium and the impact that it has made.
